Indivisible Baltimore holds #ForThePeople Town Hall with Cummings and Sarbanes

Indivisible Baltimore held a #ForThePeople Town Hall on January 5, 2019 at the War Memorial in downtown Baltimore with Congressmen Elijah Cummings and John Sarbanes and Kobi Little of the Baltimore Chapter of the NAACP . The central focus of the town hall was H.R. 1, an ambitions democracy reform package designed by Congressman Sarbanes that will be introduced as the first bill in the new Congress. In a packed hall of over 250 attendees,  the Congressmen outlined the major pieces of the H.R. 1 legislation and highlighted its impact in Baltimore and the nation.

Following opening remarks and an initial set of questions, dozens of audience members stood in line to ask their own questions on a range of issues from taking money out of politics to the Green New Deal.

This event was co-hosted by IndivisibleHoCo and the Baltimore Chapter of the NAACP. For more information, please follow coverage of the event by the Baltimore Sun and WBAL-TV. A video recording of the event can be found here.

We’d like to thank Congressman Cummings and Sarbanes for taking the time to participate in the event.
